Birth Support Rentals

TENS machine rental

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), is a means of temporarily relieving pain through the use of gentle, electrical impulses on electrode pads. It stimulates the nerves and muscles to temporarily increase local circulation and provide symptomatic relief and changed perception of pain. At the same time these pulses may also encourage the body to temporarily produce more endorphins, or pleasure hormones. The "ElleTENS" machine specifically is designed for the laboring person as its enhanced "boost" mode aids with the intensity of your body's strong contractions.

How the process works

  • Rented in your 37th week, until 2 weeks after your due date (5 weeks total)

  • They can be dropped off in the office at your convenience, but if we need it right away we will have a team member pick it up from your home so you don’t have to leave your nest. 

  • They come with 2x sets of 4 pads, a spare set of batteries, carrying case, and lead wires.

  • At the time of pick-up, we book you in for a quick 15 minute information session to ensure you feel confident with the machine and the theory, birth partners are welcome and encouraged to come.

$90.00 + GST (Rentals are secured with a 50% deposit)

Birth Sling Rental

For centuries humans used to give birth in upright positions with the use of ropes and trees to get support. Indigenous people all over the world still have their babies this way. The Birth Sling is a new take on this ancient birth tool, helping you gain comfort, strength, and stability–all contributing to an easier and faster labor. No matter where you choose to give birth, The Birth Sling supports whatever upright position makes you feel comfortable during your labor. Whether above a birthing bed, in conjunction with a birth ball, in a birth pool, or just on your own, The Birth Sling can help you move freely and do what feels natural.

How the rental process works:

  • Rented in your 37th week, until 2 weeks after your due date (5 weeks total) They can be dropped off in the office at your convenience, but if we need it right away we will have a team member pick it up from your home so you don’t have to leave your nest. 

  • Comes with the sling, door frame mounting hardware, and a mesh carrying bag.

  • At the time of pick-up, we book you in for a quick 15 minute information session to ensure you feel confident with the birth sling and a variety of positions, birth partners are welcome and encouraged to come.

$75.00 + GST 

Birth slings are useful in-home and welcomed in hospital settings.

The Lagoon Lending Library

A selection of books and texts on subjects covering pregnancy, birth, postpartum, postpartum mental health, women’s health, women’s literature, breast health, massage techniques and allied medicines. The lending library is complementary to Lagoon Prenatal patients renting for 2 week terms with the option to renew at the end.
